Fierce! IM Medina And WIM Ummi Master The Women's Quick Chess Number, The Indonesian Contingent Adds Gold Medal Collection

JAKARTA - The chess sport added to Indonesia's gold medal at the 2021 SEA Games Hanoi on Thursday, May 19. This addition makes the Indonesian contingent now collect 38 gold medals.

The gold medal for the Red and White was presented by IM Medina Warda Aulia and WIM Ummi Fisabilillah who mastered women's chess numbers.

In the deciding round which was held at the Quang Ninh Exhibition Center Building, Vietnam, the representatives of Indonesia faced the champions of Thailand. They won 1.5 - 0.5, bringing the total points collected by the Indonesian team to 6.0.

The points are the same as those achieved by Vietnam, which in the last round won an absolute 2-0 over Malaysia.

However, the pair IM Medina and WIM Ummi, were more entitled to a gold medal after the calculations were made through Tiebreak (TB) 2, where the winner was given a score of 2, drew 1 and lost 0.

In the four rounds played in the previous round robin system, the Indonesian pair recorded three wins and one draw. So, the total value of TB2 IM Medina and WIM Ummi is seven.

While the Vietnamese pair collected three wins and one defeat from the previous four matches. Their value is only six.

With the addition of one gold from the women's quick chess number, the Indonesian chess team so far has contributed a total of two gold for Indonesia. One gold was previously donated by WIM Dewi AA Citra, who fell in the standard chess number.

Meanwhile, this is the second gold medal for the Indonesian contingent today, Thursday, 19 May. Today's first gold medal was won in athletics through Odekta Naibaho Elvina in the women's marathon.
