JAKARTA - Franco Morbidelli admits that he is not in a position to demand as much from his Yamaha team as his teammate Fabio Quartararo did after the French MotoGP.

Yamaha got results beyond expectations when the race took place at the Le Mans Circuit on Sunday, May 15 yesterday. Quartararo finished fourth, while Morbidelli had just one point after finishing the race in 15th place.

At the age of the race, Quartararo issued a strong statement that he was no longer the favorite to win. He even hopes that Yamaha can improve the performance of the M1 motorbike.

Instead, Morbidelli expressed different things. Instead of supporting his teammates' statements, he prefers to fight first.

"I'm not in a position to ask Yamaha anything," said Morbidelli as quoted from the MotoGP website on Tuesday.

Getting a point at Le Mans makes Morbidelli's position on the table not change much. He still collects 19 points and occupies 17th place in the standings from seven races that have been rolled out this season.

Meanwhile, Quartararo is still at the top of the standings with 102 points. However, the defending champions are only four points adrift of Enea Bastinini who trails in second place.

"I couldn't do much but in the end we got a point which is just an injection of confidence," said Morbidelli.

"I was in a position to ask Yamaha for additional help in setting up the bike and they did. And when I will arrive at Fabio's level, I can start asking a lot of questions," he continued.

Yamaha has so far only been on the podium three times through Quartararo. Each of the second podium twice and the first podium once.

Twice the second podium was achieved in MotoGP Indonesia and Spain. Meanwhile, their only first podium was at the Portuguese Grand Prix.
