JAKARTA - The volleyball sport has a target of becoming the overall champion at the 2021 SEA Games Hanoi. They are optimistic that they will bring home four gold medals from the biennial event.

The indoor volleyball and beach volleyball teams were released by the General Chairperson of the Central Board of the All-Indonesian Volleyball Association (PP PBVSI) Imam Sudjarwo on Monday, 9 May.

"Our target is gold for both men's and women's indoor, as well as men's and women's beach volleyball," said Imam in an official statement received by VOI, Monday, May 9.

The volleyball national team has also made a fairly short preparation for this year's SEA Games. However, they are still targeted to get maximum results.

Imam said that the target was realistic. The reason is, it was made based on the results of the analysis and evaluation of the SEA Games athlete screening team.

"Hopefully we can play well in Vietnam, so we can achieve the best performance. We can maintain the title of overall volleyball champion," he said.

Previously at the SEA Games in the Philippines in 2019, Indonesia brought home two gold medals, one bronze medal, and one silver medal from volleyball.

The two gold medals were contributed by men's indoor volleyball and men's beach volleyball respectively. Meanwhile, the women's beach volleyball and women's indoor volleyball won silver and bronze medals.
