KUPANG – PT Pelindo continues to improve its services. One of them can be seen from PT Pelindo Kupang Branch which is targeting the construction of a new passenger terminal building at the Kupang Tenau Port, East Nusa Tenggara, to be completed in July 2022.

"We are targeting it to be completed in July this year so that it can be used by the public immediately", said GM of PT Pelindo Kupang Branch, Agus Nazar in Kupang, Tuesday, May 3.

The passenger terminal at Tenau Harbor is a passenger terminal that has never been rebuilt after being built-in 1993.

The passenger terminal was damaged by Cyclone Seroja after April 2021, so inevitably it had to be rebuilt to provide comfort for ship passengers.

"Currently, the achievement of the passenger terminal construction has reached 50 percent, since it was built in November 2021", Agus added as quoted by Antara.

Agus said that the new terminal being built has a capacity of 6,000 passengers, after previously being only able to accommodate 3,000 passengers.

With the redevelopment of the passenger terminal, Pelindo Kupang Branch then prepared an emergency passenger terminal for homecomers who will go home during Eid Al-Fitr 1443 Hijrah.

"It's not comfortable because before they used to be in a big building, now in a tent that we have prepared which can only accommodate 600 people. There must be complaints but so far we have not received anything directly from the community because of the repair of this building", he added.

He also hopes that when the new terminal is operational, the user community can also take care of the terminal building by not crossing or damaging it.
