JAKARTA - Foreign player from Croatia, Marko Simic, made a surprising statement which he then uploaded on his social media account. Simic decided to terminate his contract with Persija Jakarta after his salary was not paid for one year.

However, this statement was denied by the President of Persija Jakarta, Mohamad Pranpanca. In a statement on the club's official website, Prapanca said there was a misunderstanding regarding this matter.

"Persija is a law-abiding and law-abiding club. It is not true that there are statements that say that players' salaries have not been paid for one year," Prapanca said in a written statement, Wednesday, April 27.

Prapanca said, there was a salary adjustment that was applied referring to the decision from PSSI regarding the termination of the competition due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The basis is the PSSI Decree (SK) numbered SKEP/69/XI/2020.

In that situation, Prapanca added, all players, including Marko Simic, agreed to the policy as outlined in the first addendum so that everything went as it should.

"But in his journey, Marko Simic has a different understanding for the next addendum," continued Prapanca.

President Macan Kemayoran also said Simic would continue to receive the adjusted salary amount without any complaints. "In the process, Persija Jakarta will continue to strive for a common understanding regarding the next addendum," he added.

Prapanca then emphasized that Persija Jakarta is a club that always supports players' careers. This is in response to Simic's statement that there are parties who endanger his career as a footballer.

"It is not true that Persija intends to endanger a player's career, moreover these players have fought together and achieved many achievements," said Prapanca.

"Meanwhile, Persija will always follow the process that will occur in the future," he concluded.
