Like Marc Marquez, Indonesian Racer Wahyu Nugroho Makes A Phenomenal Comeback: Start From 23rd Position, Finish 7th!

JAKARTA - An amazing performance was shown by the Indonesian racer, Wahyu Nugroho, in the R3 bLU cRU European Cup 2022 race at Assen Circuit, the Netherlands, last weekend. He made a phenomenal comeback in the first race which was held on Saturday, April 23 yesterday.

In that race, Wahyu Nugroho started from the 23rd grid position. However, the rider trained by Yamaha Racing Indonesia managed to fight consistently to push to the seventh position.

At the beginning of the race, Wahyu Nugroho immediately raced his Yamaha YZF-R3 until he managed to climb to position 15 on the first lap.

When the race entered the 7th lap, the rider from Boyolali was already in the 9th row. In the remaining three laps, he was able to overtake two more riders to finish in 7th place.

"Everything went smoothly even though it was not as expected, but still grateful and hopefully in the future it will be even better," said Wahyu Nugroho, on the official Yamaha Racing Indonesia website.

Unfortunately, in the second race which was held on the same day, the 19-year-old driver crashed when he was about to devour the fifth corner on the fourth lap. Even though on the 3rd lap, Wahyu Nugroho was already in 3rd position.

"I was too motivated because in race 1 I thought it was a little difficult to join the front group, but in race 2 in just a few laps I was able to immediately join the top group. Because I was too rushed I opened the gas too quickly at turn 4, but unfortunately the rear tire I slide and fall but all is well," he said.

With this result, Wahyu Nugroho is in 8th position in the drivers' standings with 30 points. The potential for improving the ranking is still very open because the difference in points is relatively not too far away.
