Disappointed Not Getting A Penalty Against Liverpool When Anthony Gordon Is Fouled, Frank Lampard: If Mo Salah Is Dropped, A Penalty Will Be Given!

JAKARTA – Everton manager, Frank Lampard, accused the referee of siding with Liverpool. The disappointment was because his team was not given a penalty even though Anthony Gordon was violated in the forbidden box.

The Toffees play the away match for the Premier League 2021/2022 match week to Liverpool headquarters at Anfield Stadium on Sunday, April 24 evening WIB. This match ended with a 2-0 win for the home team.

After passing the first half without a goal, the visitors almost changed the situation in the 54th minute. They should have been awarded a penalty after Joel Matip violated Gordon in the forbidden box.

Instead of pointing to the white dot, referee Stuart Atwell, who led the match, issued a yellow card for Gordon. This decision is considered in favor of the host.

Lampard then compared Liverpool's Mohamed Salah to the foul. So the referee's decision will be different. According to him, the Reds will be given a penalty if the Egyptian player is dropped.

"It's a penalty. You won't get it at Anfield. If it was Mohamed Salah, I think (the referee) gave a penalty. That's a foul on Anthony (Gordon)," Lampard said, quoted by The Sun.

After the match, Anthony Gordon also did not stay silent. He used social media Twitter to upload clips of reruns of the incident he experienced with the caption slapping his forehead to express his disappointment.

In that match, Gordon performed very well and became one of the most prominent Everton players. The 21-year-old wonderkid caused some problems on the right side of the Liverpool defence.

Gordon's speed caught Liverpool off guard on several occasions. Unfortunately, the violation he received was considered only a field court dive.

The result against Everton keeps Liverpool on track to win the English Premier League. Jurgen Klopp's squad is now in second place in the standings with a collection of 79 points or only one point adrift of Manchester City at the top.
