JAKARTA - The organizing committee for the 2021 International Youth Championship will take firm action against acts of racism and sexism. One of them stops the game if necessary.
Through an official announcement on their Instagram account, the IYC 2021 Panpel also regretted the acts of racism and sexism that occurred.
"Regarding the incident of racism and sexism that occurred at the International Youth Championship match which has been held since April 13, 2022, the Organizing Committee of the International Youth Championship deeply regrets the incident. Through the match announcer/MC, the Organizing Committee has appealed to the audience not to take any actions that lead to to racism and sexism that can interfere with the course of the match," the IYC committee said in a statement.
For the remaining four matches, including the final, the Panpel will take firm action if the axis of racism and sexism persists. The decisive action started from an appeal by the announcer, expulsion of spectators from the stadium, to stopping the match if needed.
"The IYC Organizing Committee is obliged to ensure the match runs smoothly, including protecting all team components including players and officials without exception," the statement continued.
The Panpel also hopes for the cooperation of all the spectators present for the success of IYC 2021. Of course this can be a record for Indonesia which will host several international events, one of which is the U-20 World Cup.
