Dallas Mayor Sets April 16 As Errol Spence Jr.'s Day To Face Jordan Ugas At AT&T Stadium

JAKARTA - Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson has set Saturday, April 16, 2022 as the day Errol Spence Jr. will fight against Cuban boxer Yordenis Ugas at AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Dallas, Texas.

As reported by Antara from the WBA's official website, Thursday, Spence will face Ugas for the unification match of the three welterweight world titles (66.6kg) WBA Super, WBC and IBF.

"I'm a big fan of sports. It's great to be able to cheer on athletes from our hometown. More than that sport can teach us about life. It shows us what it takes to be successful and what it means to be great. Being successful in sports requires agility, strength, speed, endurance, commitment and more," said Eric Johnson.

The award from the mayor also made Spence even more motivated to be able to win the match this weekend. He thanked her and promised to put on the best performance.

"I never thought I'd get my own day from the big city of Dallas. Everyone came out and supported me on April 16. I really appreciate everyone and thank Dallas for all the support," said Spence.

Spence will attend this weekend's match armed with two titles namely WBC and IBF. Meanwhile, Ugas is risking the WBA Super title.

Since his professional debut on 9 November 2012, Spence has an unbeaten streak in 27 matches and 21 of them ended in knockouts (KO).

The last game was at AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Spence won on points in a 12-round tie against Danny Garcia.

Meanwhile, Ugas has a record of 27 wins and four losses. He won the WBA title after defeating Abel Ramos at the Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles on September 6, 2020.

Then he successfully defended the title and turned it into a WBA Super after defeating the Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, August 21, 2021.
