JAKARTA - The International Football Federation (FIFA) will enter the football streaming market. The soccer platform will broadcast 1,400 live matches at the beginning of each month and documentaries.
The platform, titled Fifa+, was introduced by the international soccer parent on Tuesday, April 13th. Fifa+ will later provide free access to all matches from all over the world.
In addition, on the same platform, football fans can access various kinds of news, tournament information, and innovative video content. All that content includes women's soccer.
"Fifa+ represents the next step in our vision to make football truly global and inclusive, and it supports FIFA's core mission to expand and develop football globally," FIFA president Gianni Infantino said in a statement.
"This project represents a cultural shift in the way various football fans want to watch and explore global matches and has become a fundamental part of my Vision 2020-2023. This project will accelerate the democratization of football and we are pleased to share it with fans," Infantino continued.
In a further statement FIFA said, by the end of this year they will broadcast around 40 thousand live matches per year from 100 member associations in six confederations. That number includes 11,000 women's football matches, as well as live coverage of Europe's top leagues.
FIFA also said that their platform rebroadcast all the FIFA World Cup and Women's World Cup matches that were recorded on camera before the World Cup in Qatar later this year. A total of more than two thousand hours of archive content, including 2,500 videos dating back to the 1950s.
”Fifa+Originals” will form another key component of this platform. This component consists of complete documentaries, documentaries, talk shows, and short films.
