JAKARTA - The national basketball parent (Perbasi) will select young players to strengthen the U-16 national team for men and women. This selection is in preparation for the international event next June.

Deputy Head of Perbasi for Development and Achievement George Dendeng said that in addition to players who were called to participate in the national selection, the federation also provided opportunities for players from the recommendations of provincial administrators (Pengprov) throughout Indonesia.

"Later on, there will be an independent coaching team who will choose the players who are called and recommended from Pengprov," said George in an official statement received by VOI.

The national selection in the men's category was held to face the 2022 FIBA U-16 Asian Championship on 12-19 June 2022 in Doha, Qatar.

Meanwhile, in the women's category, the selection is in preparation for the 2022 FIBA U-16 Women's Asian Championship on 24-30 June 2022 in Jordan.

This national selection will be held on April 18-21 2022 at the GMC Basketball Arena Cirebon, West Java. In the selection stage, 15 to 18 players will be selected to participate in the next stage. They will undergo a training center led by the coach selected for the national team.
