Korea Open 2022 Semifinals: Hendra/Ahsan Kandas, All Indonesian Final Failed To Create

JAKARTA - The Indonesian men's doubles, Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan, ran aground in the semifinals of the Korea Open 2022. Their steps were blocked by representatives of the hosts Kang Minhyuk/Seo Seung Jae.

The Daddies suffered defeat in three sets. Hendra/Ahsan surrendered 16-21, 21-17, 9-21 on Field 1 Palma Stadium, Suncheon, Korea, on Saturday, April 9.

This defeat made the "All Indonesian Final" in the Super 500 tournament failed to materialize. Indonesia has already secured a place in the final round of the Korea Open after Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto faced Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri in the semifinals.

Unfortunately, the defeat of Hendra / Ahsan made the duel between Indonesian representatives in the final match, as happened at the All England last March, failed to repeat itself.

Hendra/Ahsan became the second representatives to fall in the top four. Previously, Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari, who lost to Malaysian representatives, Tan Kiang Meng/Lai Pei Jing, failed to win the final ticket to the mixed doubles.

Meanwhile, the only final ticket was obtained by Jonathan Christie from the three Indonesian representatives who had already fought.

The 24-year-old athlete reached the final round after overthrowing India's Kidambi Srikanth who he defeated in the same round in the previous tournament, the Swiss Open.

The final at the Korea Open became the second consecutive final for Jonathan Christie. He previously came out as champion in Switzerland as well as breaking a 2.5-year title drought.
