Record The Third Victory, Shin Tae-yong Praises The Mental And Aggressiveness Of The U-19 National Team

JAKARTA – The coach of the Indonesian U-19 national team, Shin Tae-yong, is increasingly satisfied with the progress of his team after the 2-1 win over Kyungil University at the Auxiliary Mini Stadium on Thursday, April 7.

"So far, during the training camp in Korea, the most significant improvement seen from the players was in terms of mentality and aggressiveness of the game, as well as the players' efforts to always win the match," said Shin, who was quoted on the PSSI website.

This is the third win for the Garuda squad in seven test matches so far in South Korea. Previously, Marselino Ferdinand and his friends had won over Pohan FC U-18 and Daegu University.

In the match against Kyungil University, goals for Indonesia were respectively scored by Arsa Ramadan Ahmad in the 38th minute and Rabbani Tasnim Siddiq in the 81st minute. Meanwhile, one goal was scored by Gyeong Il Uni in the 90+1 minute.

"I'm very happy with this result, because the players are improving day by day and getting better. Those (mental and aggressiveness) are things that I think have progressed very well," said the Korean coach.

Meanwhile, Arsa assessed that his team's victory was due to the team's cohesiveness which was getting better day by day. That cohesiveness is supported by a physical that is also getting honed.

"Passing-passing has also improved. Mentally we will continue to improve, because that is one of the important messages from the coach," he said.

Actually, today Marselino Ferdinand and his colleagues planned to try out against the Daegu FC team today, however, the match failed to be held because many of the opposing players tested positive for COVID-19.

In addition to the three wins, Indonesia also suffered three defeats and a draw. The three defeats were against Yeungnam University (1-5), South Korea U-19 (0-7 and 1-5), while the 2-2 draw was obtained when they met Gimcheon Sangmu FC.

The Indonesian U-19 team is scheduled to hold one final test against Pohang Steelers FC on Saturday, April 9, 2022.
