SEA Games Hanoi 2021 Badminton Team Squad Without Jojo And Anthony Ginting, The Indonesian Badminton Association Targets 3 Gold Medals

JAKARTA – The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) has determined the athletes who will be dispatched to the SEA Games Hanoi 2021. A total of 20 athletes will be dispatched to the biennial event.

From the men's sector, the national badminton parent fielded all the young Pelatnas players. Names such as Jonatan Christie, Fajar Alfian, and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting were not on the list.

The names that were dispatched were the majority who defended Indonesia in the 2022 Asian Team Championships to dominate the 2021 SEA Games squad. They are Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, Christian Adinata, Yonathan Ramlie, Pramudya Kusumawardana, Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan, Leo Rolly Carnando, and Daniel Marthin.

The Head of Development and Achievement of the executive board (PP) of the PBSI, Rionny Mainaky, said that this was the best squad chosen to represent the Red and White at the Southeast Asian sporting event.

"The men's team apart from the core team that will go to the Thomas Cup, this SEA Games team is also the best team we have. So I hope they become the motor of the men's team. Besides that, there are Leo / Daniel and Pramudya / Jeremiah as well," said Rionny in official statement

Meanwhile, the women's team fielded full strength in the doubles and singles sector. In the doubles, Indonesia brought names such as Apriyani Rahayu, Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, and Ribka Sugiarto.

Then in the singles sector, the Red and White team was strengthened by Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, Putri Kusuma Wardani, Stephanie Widjaja, and Saifi Rizka Nurhidayah.

"Meanwhile, in the women's team, we field a full team, the best strength. But this does not mean that later in the Uber team we will send second-class players but young players who are ready to compete at the top level," he continued.

With this squad, Rionny is optimistic that the badminton team will be able to contribute three gold medals to Indonesia.

"I'm targeting three gold medals at the SEA Games this time, if possible even more. The point is we will fight as much as possible," concluded Rionny.

The 2021 SEA Games will be held on 12-23 May 2022 in Hanoi, Vietnam. Badminton itself will be competed on May 16-18 (Teams) and May 19-22 (Individuals).
