JAKARTA - Poland's Iga Swiatek said he gained more confidence by maintaining his winning record after beating Naomi Osaka in the Miami Open final on Saturday local time.

Swiatek, who will become world number one on Monday, beat four-time Grand Slam champion Osaka 6-4, 6-0.

The 2020 French Open champion hasn't dropped a set in Miami and has now won 17 matches in a row since winning the Qatar Open in February.

The 20-year-old just became the fourth woman to win back-to-back Indian Wells and Miami, a feat known as the "Sunshine Double" given the tournament locations in California and Florida, respectively.

"I just feel very satisfied and satisfied and also proud of myself," Swiatek said.

"I feel like I have to celebrate because I don't know how long I can hold this record."

Swiatek is the first player to win 17 consecutive hardcourt matches in a calendar year since Serena Williams won 20 hardcourt matches between the Australian Open and Toronto in 2015.

"I'm really using that record for more confidence, and also rankings," said Swiatek, who will move up the rankings after Ash Barty retires.

"I learned a lot about myself, that I can keep going, and I really don't have to feel 100 per cent to win games against great players."

"I can be more confident now."

Swiatek also became the first woman to win the opening three WTA 1000 tournaments in one season.
