Revans Over Indian Pair, Pramudya/Jeremiah To Swiss Open 2022 Quarter Final

JAKARTA - Men's doubles Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan successfully avenged the defeat to Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty in the last 16 of the Swiss Open with two straight games at St. Jakobshalle, Basel, Thursday.

The victory with a score of 21-19, 22-20 avenged the defeat of Pramudya / Jeremiah to a pair from India in the same round and tournament in last year's edition.

"We played quite well today. It's not enough to make many mistakes ourselves. Earlier when the scores in the first and second games were far apart, but they didn't give up easily and chased. So when they fell behind they were more focused and ready," said Jeremiah, quoted by Antara. from Antara, Thursday, March 24.

When they started the game, they started well and were always four to five points ahead of Rankireddy/Shetty in points.

But at the end of the game, the Indian pair fought back and was able to equalize. Luckily, the 23rd ranked men's doubles from Indonesia was able to win in both the first and second games.

"When we were overtaken, we panicked and wanted to kill them quickly. Even though their defense was tight. At critical points, we just tried to be more patient. The coach also kept calm. Finally we were able to get the winning points," Jeremiah explained.

Being caught up in the final points is an evaluation for Pramudya / Jeremiah to face Friday's quarter-final match. They will meet with representatives of Denmark Kim Astrup / Anders Skaarup Rasmussen.

"This is our evaluation for tomorrow. We have to be more patient in the final points," said Jeremiah.

Meanwhile, the men's doubles coach Herry Iman Pierngadi also appreciated the performance of Pramudya/Yeremia.

"Pramudya / Jeremiah today played better than yesterday, his mistakes were reduced a lot," said Herry briefly.

Apart from Pramudya/Jeremiah, the men's doubles have also placed Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin in the quarter-finals. Leo/Daniel got the advantage after their opponents Ben Lane/Sean Vendy (England) decided to withdraw.
