JAKARTA – Suzuki Ecstar racer, Alex Rins, shows the bits of asphalt from the Mandalika Circuit that were peeled off and stuck to his chest after the race on Sunday, March 20 afternoon.

Rins uploaded the photo on Twitter moments after finishing the race. His upload was also widely commented on by netizens.

"Anyone want souvenirs from #GPIndonesia? Bits of asphalt from the track!" Rins wrote accompanying his upload.

Netizens were immediately boisterous in the comments column of the upload.

"Yes, I admit that Mandalika seems really rushed, hopefully next year it will be well prepared," wrote a netizen.

"What do you think, apart from being embarrassed? If this continues to be voiced by world racers, then the good intention to make the Mandalika GP arena an effort to increase tourist attraction, can backfire," wrote another.

The Mandalika Circuit was in the spotlight after last pre-season test because of the dirty track conditions and peeling asphalt. This then made Dorna Sport have to recommend re-paving.

After re-paving, the Mandalika Circuit also received grade A from the International Motorcycle Federation (FIM). That means, the circuit is worthy of holding a race at the level of a grand prix event.

The race in Mandalika was successfully won by Red Bull KTM driver Miguel Oliveira. The Portuguese rider came out as champion ahead of Fabio Quartararo and Johann Zarco.

Meanwhile Rins finished the race in fifth position. The result makes him currently sitting in 8th place in the standings with a collection of 20 points, level with Pol Espargaro and Aleix Espargaro who fill the sixth and seventh positions.
