JAKARTA - Indonesia's mixed doubles coach Nova Widianto appreciated the performance of Adnan Maulana/Mychelle Crhystine Bandaso at the All England 2022 who had high fighting spirit even though they had to stop in the first round after losing to representatives of Malaysia, Tan Kian Meng/Lai Pei Jing 14-21, 21- 13, 16-21, Wednesday (16/3).

Nova assesses that the appearance of Adnan / Mychelle has made a lot of progress compared to before. Unfortunately, both of them often lack confidence in their own punches.

"For Adnan/Mychelle yesterday's performance has made a lot of progress but at the start of the game I was still not sure. Many died alone," Nova said as quoted by Antara, Thursday.

"Games two and three, they have more courage to rallies and beat punches, unfortunately at the final points they lose their focus again, carried away by the opponent's game. A lot of balls are easy to die and throw wrong," he added.

Nova gave a different statement regarding the appearance of Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas, which according to him was unsatisfactory.

Rinov/Pitha were again stopped by the British pair Marcus Ellis/Lauren Smith in two straight games with a score of 17-21, 19-21.

Nova assesses that Rinov/Pitha still haven't regained their confidence after their defeat to Smith/Eliis in the quarter-finals of the German Open last weekend. This situation, he continued, made it difficult for the pair ranked 22 in the world to get out of pressure from the start of the game.

"Rinov / Pitha yesterday's performance was not good, they have been under pressure from the start even though usually in the last few meetings we always start well against them," said Nova.

"The game was a little loose, maybe because in the last meeting in Germany they lost. But on the positive side, in terms of their fighting power, they don't give up easily," Nova continued.

Indonesia now only leaves one mixed doubles representative at the All England. Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti will fight to reach the semifinals with the third seed from China who is also a gold medalist at the Tokyo 2022 Olympics, Wang Yi Lyu/Huang Dong Ping.
