JAKARTA – The race at the Mandalika Circuit will take place this weekend. The MotoGP party is also very confident that the energy of the audience at the Sentul Circuit 25 years ago will be seen again at Mandalika later.

The second series of 2022 MotoGP at the Mandalika International Circuit will be held on Sunday, March 20. Enthusiasm of the audience was quite high, as seen from the sale of tickets on D-day which were sold out.

These sales figures make MotoGP sure that the enthusiasm of the audience will bring back memories of the race at Sentul in 1997. In its latest official Instagram upload, MotoGP is trying to show the overwhelming audience at the Sentul grandstand at that time.

"From the Sentul International Circuit in 1997 to the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit in 2022. The energy in the stands at that time was exciting and we are sure there will be more this weekend," wrote MotoGP's official Instagram.

The Mandalika Circuit is now in a ready-to-use condition after the re-paving process which was completed last Thursday, March 10. The International Motorcycle Federation (FIM) will give a homologation grade assessment the day before the first day of free practice.

A total of 24 riders will be paving at the pride of Indonesia's circuit. A total of 12 teams will bring their two riders each to compete at the circuit located in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara Province.

Currently, some of the riders have started their journey to Indonesia, including the Repsol Honda rider, Marc Marquez. The Spaniard last posted a photo of him at Madrid Airport before his trip to Jakarta.

"The next concern is Jakarta," the six-time world champion wrote briefly.

In Jakarta, Marquez is scheduled to meet President Joko Widodo before holding a parade with 19 other racers. However, Jokowi will not participate in the one hour parade.

Jokowi will host and chat with the racers at the Merdeka Palace. After that he officially let them parade from the Palace to the Hotel Indonesia roundabout.
