World Boxing Pays Respect To Late Hero Tito, Lennox Lewis: Rest In The Lion's Love

JAKARTA – The news of the death of Indonesian boxer Hero Tito reached the ears of world boxing legends. Former heavyweight boxer, Lennox Lewis, was one of those who heard the sad news.

This is known from Lewis's latest tweet on his personal Twitter account. In his tweet, former rival Mike Tyson wrote a touching message for the departure of the boxer from Malang, nicknamed "The Lion".

"Every time a fighter steps in the ring, they do it knowing it could be the last time. The boxing brotherhood has lost another member. Rest in the love of Hero 'The Lion' Tito," Lewis wrote.

Tito died after falling into a coma following a knockout loss to James Mokoginta on 27 February. "The Lion" was hospitalized for several days before being confirmed dead on March 3.

Attention is also given to former boxer United States, Freddie Roach. The death of Hero Tito is considered by Roach as a tragic event in the world of boxing.

The Lion became a professional fighter in 2004. In his career he has fought names such as Ik Yang, Will Tomlinson, and Jamshidbek Najmitdinov.

Tito's death is not the first case of a boxer falling into a coma and dying after a fight in the ring. Last year, Mexican boxer Jeannette Zacarias also lost her life after falling into a coma and being taken to hospital.

Korean boxer Duk Koo-Kim also suffered a similar fate. He was in a coma for four days after facing Ray Mancini at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas before being pronounced dead at Desert Springs Hospital.

Tito himself is the 31st Indonesian boxer who died after competing in the ring. Tito leaves behind a wife and two daughters who are respectively 13 and 5.
