JAKARTA — Francesco Bagnaia has officially signed a new contract with Ducati. He will be with the Italian motorcycle manufacturer until 2024.

"Being a Ducati rider in MotoGP has always been my dream, and knowing that I can continue with the Lenovo Ducati Team for two more seasons makes me happy and proud," Bagnaia said.

Bagnaia made his MotoGP debut in 2019 with the Ducati Desmosedici Motor team from Pramac Racing Team. After serving two seasons at Pramac, the former Moto2 world champion enjoyed his best season at the factory Ducati last season.

He opened the season on a brilliant note, taking pole position and finishing third at the Qatar Grand Prix. In the same season he also won four wins and only lost to Fabio Quartararo in the final standings of the 2021 season.

"I've found a calm environment in the factory team: I feel very in tune with my team and know that we can do great things together," he said.

"Now I can concentrate on doing well in this Championship. Many thanks to Claudio, Gigi, Paolo, Davide and all the Ducati Corse staff. I will try to repay their trust with my results on track!"

Gigi Dall'Igna as General Manager of Ducati Corse said that he was happy Bagnaia wanted to be with them for the next two seasons. Bagnaia is considered a potential racer because he has adapted well since strengthening Pramac.

"He did, especially last season, where he had significant growth and could fight for the world title," said Gigi.
