JAKARTA - Manchester City celebrated a goal at home to Sporting CP with a score of 5-0 when the two teams met in the first leg of the Champions League last 16 at the Jose Alvalade Stadium, Lisbon, Portugal, Tuesday night local time.

Launching Antara, Manchester City managed to score five goals against Sporting CP through Riyad Mahrez, Bernardo Silva's brace, Phil Foden's kick and it was closed by Raheem Sterling.

Manchester City's big win over Sporting CP makes them arguably have put one foot in the next round and will undergo the second leg at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester, next March 10.

In this match, the full strength Manchester City immediately took the initiative to attack first and managed to take the lead when the game had only been running for seven minutes.

Kevin De Bruyne who escaped the offside trap managed to send a pull bait to Riyad Mahrez who had no trouble finding the net from Sporting CP and made the score 1-0.

Manchester City's second goal came in the 17th minute when Riyad Mahrez's corner was cleared by Sporting's back line, but Bernardo Silva grabbed the ball and made it 2-0.

Manchester City's goal feast continued this time through Phil Foden after welcoming a pass from Riyad Mahrez which passed three Sporting CP defenders and the score changed to 3-0 in the 32nd minute.

Manchester City closed the first half with a 4-0 lead after Bernardo Silva scored his second in the 44th minute after receiving a pass from Raheem Sterling.

In the second half, Manchester City did not slow down their attack and Bernardo Silva scored his third goal in the 49th minute, but was then ruled out by VAR for being in an offside position first.

Manchester City's fifth goal came in the 58th minute through an effort from Raheem Sterling after receiving a pass from Bernardo Silva and firing a powerful shot into the top corner of the Sporting goal which was guarded by Antonio Adan to make it 5-0.

In the remaining time of the second half, Manchester City continued to play dominant and had a chance to threaten when Riyad Mahrez's shot was hit by Sporting defender Sebastian Coates, but the ball still bounced slightly over the crossbar and made the 5-0 score last until the long whistle sounded.
