Sabet Capolista, Pioli Reminds Milan About Mentality

JAKARTA - AC Milan successfully won Capolista in the 25th week of the Italian League 2021/2022. For his team's hard struggle, Stefano Pioli as the coach is optimistic about his team's chances of winning the Scudetto this season.

However, Pioli still reminded Milan about the mentality they must maintain throughout the title hunt.

“Our goal is to improve on the performance from last season. We currently have two points more than at this stage of last season, so it will be difficult, but we face each game as the most important test and the mentality of the team must continue to be champions.

Milan won the status of Capolista or the top standings after they successfully beat Sampdoria in Lafa Sunday, February 13 night WIB. Appearing at the San Siro Stadium, the hosts won 1-0 through Rafael Leao's goal when the game had only been running for eight minutes.

Thanks to that victory, Milan successfully sits at the top of the Italian League standings, shifting Inter Milan by one point.

Not only that, during the last seven days Milan also successfully beat Inter and Sampdoria in the Italian League. Even the Rossoneri were also able to destroy Lazio 4-0 in the Coppa Italia to reach the semifinals.

Pioli caught a positive signal for a number of important wins. He is grateful that his team were able to win in important matches in the last few weeks.

"It's been a perfect week. There was a very difficult and complicated match a week ago, so winning all three is of course a good sign," continued Pioli. The coach also sees his squad now having a promising performance. He did not even hesitate to praise Milan's performance along with the staff who work behind the scenes.

"Milan have an identity now, regardless of who plays, and that is the most satisfying thing for me, our job and the club," he said.

Regardless of the coach's comments, Milan has indeed become the second most successful team in the history of Italian football. This team has won the Italian League 18 times and the Italian Cup five times. However, the last time Milan managed to lift the Scudetto trophy was in the 2010/2011 season.
