JAKARTA - Alexis Sanchez scored twice to help Chile beat Bolivia 3-2 in the 2022 World Cup qualifying match, Tuesday local time. Chile keep their hopes of qualifying for Qatar alive.

With two games remaining for each team, Chile moved up to fifth in the 10-team South American group with 19 points.

The top four teams will qualify automatically for Qatar and the fifth-placed team will enter the playoffs with teams from the Asian confederations.

Brazil and Argentina have already qualified, while third-placed Ecuador will almost certainly join them.

As Reuters reports, a tough court clash in the Bolivian capital Sanchez put Chile ahead after 14 minutes but Marc Enoumba equalized eight minutes before half-time for the hosts.

Chile took the lead again through Marcelino Nunez's goal in the 77th minute and Sanchez added Chile's lead with four minutes remaining.

Bolivia's top scorer, Marcelo Martins, pulled one back two minutes later but Chile's 3-2 lead lasted until the end.

Peru, who have 20 points, will face Ecuador, who are third on 24 points, on Tuesday night. Leaders Brazil play at home to Paraguay and second place Argentina travel to Colombia.

In the other match of the night, Uruguay, who have 19 points, face Venezuela, who are bottom of the group and already eliminated.
