JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali hopes that the pencak silat branch will be more successful. This hope was conveyed when Prabowo Subianto was inaugurated as General Chair of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (PB IPSI).
Prabowo was inaugurated by the General Chair of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Marciano at the Pondok Multipurpose Padepokan Pencak Silat Indonesia TMII, Jakarta, on Monday, January 31, 2022. Prabowo will lead PB IPSI until 2025.
“We just gave birth to DBON. Pencak silat is included in the leading sport in it and is expected to be able to achieve to the highest level, namely the Olympics," Amali said in an official statement received.
Prabowo was elected based on the results of the XV PB IPSI National Conference (Munas), with the theme 'Forward Indonesia, Pencak Silat Towards the Olympics'. The XV PB IPSI Congress was held at the Aston Hotel, Sentul, Bogor, 15-18 December 2021.
Menpora said that the election of Prabowo as the chairman of IPSI made him feel calm. The man from Gorontalo admitted that he wanted the General Chair of the Gerindra Party to remain an important person in pencak silat.
"My concern was answered after Mr. Prabowo was willing to lead again PB IPSI until 2025. The government is ready to provide support for the development of silat achievements," said the Menpora.

“How can this road to Olympic pencak silat be achieved? It requires cooperation and collaboration. I am optimistic that one day, pencak silat will become one of the sports that will be competed in the Olympics,” said Amali.
