Tony Sucipto Admits Responsibility For Persija's Defeat From Persiraja

JAKARTA - Tony Sucipto claimed responsibility for Persija's 0-1 defeat of Persiraja Banda Aceh. In the match which took place at I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Bali on Sunday, January 30, Tony failed to execute a penalty.

Persija had the opportunity to equalize in the 82nd minute. The golden moment came through a penalty awarded by the referee.

But unfortunately, Tony who became the executioner of the penalty actually failed because his shot was pushed over by goalkeeper Fakhrurrazi Quba.

"The decision to take the penalty is a decision on the pitch and I am responsible. Whether it's a goal or not, it's my responsibility," said the 35-year-old footballer after the match, quoted from Persija's website.

Furthermore, Tony also admitted that he was disappointed with the negative results achieved by Persija. Even though in that match they faced a team who was in the caretaker position.

Tony said Persija should have gotten better results because they had more control of the match from the early minutes. But regardless of the final result, Tony still gave his appreciation to the opposing team.

"We are more in control of the game in terms of the game, we should be able to get maximum results. Congratulations to Persiraja for getting three points," he added.

Despite failing to pick three points, Persija's position did not move because it was still ranked 6th with a total of 32 points from 22 matches. Meanwhile, Persiraja's three points were still not enough to boost their position in 18th place.
