JAKARTA - Inspector General Ferdy Sambo has been named a suspect in the death of Brigadier J at his official residence, Duren Tiga Police Complex, South Jakarta on July 8, 2022.

The man who graduated from the Police Academy in 1994 is suspected of having a role as the one who ordered, carried out, and made a scenario of events as if a shootout occurred between Brigadier J and Bharada E. In fact, based on the evidence found, there was no shootout. Brigadier J died from being shot.

However, until now, the National Police Timsus has not been able to determine the motive or trigger for the shooting incident. The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Komjen Agus Andrianto, said that it was unlikely that a sexual harassment incident would occur. Moreover, the article imposed on Ferdy Sambo is Article 340 of the Criminal Code.

"If (Article) 340 is applied, it is unlikely that (there was harassment by Brigadier Yoshua)," Agus said at the National Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, Tuesday (9/8).

Article 340 of the Criminal Code states, "Anyone who deliberately and with a plan in advance takes the life of another, is threatened with premeditated murder, with a death penalty or imprisonment for life or for a certain time, a maximum of twenty years."

The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Komjen Agus Andrianto, said that it was unlikely that the assassination of Brigadier J, which was masterminded by Inspector General Ferdy Sambo, was triggered by sexual harassment. (Between)

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD assumed that the motives in the sensitive case of Brigadier J's murder could only be heard by adults.

"Regarding the motive, let the law be constructed later, because it is sensitive, maybe only adults can hear it, which will be constructed by the police, what is the motive, there are already many in the community," said Mahfud MD at a press conference at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Tuesday (9/8).

What is certain is that Timsus is still working to examine witnesses, including the wife of Inspector General Ferdy Sambo.

"So, at this time we cannot conclude," said National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

Former Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Indonesian National Police, Susno Duadji, said that this was the first time that a high-ranking officer had been charged with the death penalty in a criminal case against him.

"Until now, as far as I remember, this is true, including the announcement by the highest official in the National Police for the first time," said Susno as quoted by Kompas TV broadcast, Tuesday (9/8).

Inspector General Ferdy Sambo was born in Barru, South Sulawesi on February 9, 1973. His father is a retired police officer with the rank of Major General named Pieter Sambo. Pieter Sambo's last position was the North Sumatra Police Chief in 1986.

More than his father, Ferdy Sambo's career in the police is fairly smooth, he is called the youngest two-star general. Only 47 years old, the National Police Chief at that time, General Idham Aziz, had put a second star on his shoulders along with the appointment of Ferdy Sambo as the Head of the National Police Propam Division in 2020.

Ferdy Sambo started his career as a police detective. In 1997, it was recorded that he had served as the Head of Research and Development at the Pasar Rebo Metro Police, East Jakarta. Then, the Head of Research and Development of the Cakung Metro Police in the same year.

The husband of Putri Chandrawati also served as Deputy Kapolsek of the Metro Matraman of the East Jakarta Metro Police in 1999, Deputy Head of Criminal Investigation at the East Jakarta Metro Police in 2001, Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for the Bogor Police in 2003, Kanit IV of Satops I of the West Java Police Criminal Investigation Unit in 2004, and Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Bogor Regional Police. in 2005.

Inspector General Ferdy Sambo's career will certainly end with his appointment as a suspect in the case of the death of his aide, Brigadier J. It is also possible that Ferdy Sambo will be fired from the police.
