JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) is pursuing the target of achieving the target of 2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccination per day in September by involving various relevant agencies.

"We are trying to achieve the target of 2 million doses per day," said Spokesperson for COVID-19 Vaccination at the Indonesian Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, quoted by Antara, Thursday, September 2.

According to Nadia, the strategy to achieve this target is pursued by involving elements of the TNI, Polri, private sector, mass organizations, and religious organizations.

Siti Nadia said the COVID-19 vaccine would be distributed to all provinces. "Regions can determine target priorities," he said.

Regarding areas that were previously difficult to reach, said Nadia, the government will be assisted by TNI and Polri personnel.

According to Nadia, the government already has a safe stock of vaccines. "Currently in the regions there are at least 17 million doses in circulation and this week there are 4 million Sinovac vaccines to be distributed," he said.

Meanwhile, the Corporate Secretary and Spokesperson for Bio Farma Bambang Heriyanto explained that the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine was based on allocations and requests from the Ministry of Health. Bio Farma continues to coordinate with the Ministry of Health to distribute according to the regional priorities and targets that have been set.

He said the distribution of vaccines must still consider the availability of vaccines that are ready to be distributed or have received a lot of release from the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM).

"From January to the end of August 2021, Bio Farma has distributed 129,891,072 doses to all provinces," he said.

During August, said Bambang, Bio Farma has distributed approximately 42,860,100 doses. Continuing on September 1, Bio Farma distributed 3,064,640 doses to 32 provinces.

As of September, said Bambang, Bio Farma is ready to send 18 million doses of vaccine to all provinces. "Then this month there will be an additional supply of vaccines from Bio Farma's production of 23,280,000 doses and also an additional 25 million doses of the finished product for the CoronoVac vaccine.

"That does not include additional vaccines from the Covax/Gavi multilateral scheme, bilateral, and other bilateral donations that will also come in September," he said.

Bambang estimates that the total stock availability of vaccines in Indonesia in September could reach more than 70 million doses. The arrival in September began with the entry of the bilateral scheme AstraZeneca vaccine on September 1, 2021, totaling 583,400 doses.

Thus, the total number of COVID-19 vaccines available and distributed in Indonesia is 217,936,360 doses by the end of August 2021. The details are in bulk form of 153,900,280 doses and 64,036,080 doses of finished product.
