JAKARTA - Head of the Covid-19 Disaster Management Acceleration Task Force, Doni Monardo, asked law enforcement officials and related agencies to work extra hard in implementing Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) and health protocols. This is to prevent the spread of the second wave virus.

In fact, Doni asked law enforcement officials to not hesitate to take action against PSBB violators. Of course the prosecution is in accordance with the existing regulations in the PSBB in each region. This is because many people do not comply with the PSBB regulations by continuing to do activities outside the room. For that, Doni asked

"The PSBB is still in effect, but the public has not complied with it, there are still those who are desperate, how busy are all of our duties to ensure that there will be no second wave," said Doni in Jakarta, Wednesday, May 20.

On the other hand, after the Eid Al-Fitr, it is likely that the residents who have gone home successfully will return to the capital from their hometown. For this reason, it is hoped that all related institutions can prevent this from happening so that there is no more COVID-19 transmission.

"Because we are very worried if there are areas that are now the new epicenter, then they will go to Jakarta and later among them are also virus carriers," said Doni.

Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus said, in preventing the spread of the virus that was increasingly prevalent and enforcing PSBB regulations, his party would increase the intensity of patrols and continue to implement ketupat operations.

By consistently doing these two methods, it is considered that at least they can prevent or curb the spread rate. Especially for people who will come or leave Jakarta.

"We will continue to patrol, operate ketupat too," said Yusri.

Then, his party will also continue to urge the public not to move outside the home and continue to prioritize the PSBB regulations. Because, currently the community is also at the forefront of fighting COVID-19.

"Please people comply with government policy that the PSBB in Jakarta is still valid and not be relaxed. What is PSBB, the public must know what limits are not allowed in the PSBB," said Yusri.

Meanwhile, University of Indonesia criminologist Adrianus Meliala said that the right sanction for violators is DKI Governor Regulation (Pergub) Number 41 of 2020. This is because this rule becomes the legal basis for the PSBB regulations.

But what must be considered is not the type of sanction. Rather, it is the consistency of law enforcement officers indiscriminately in taking action against violators.

"In accordance with the provisions which are the legal basis for the PSBB. There must be an article on sanctions. The meaning of this firm action is to impose sanctions indiscriminately and consistently," said Adrianus.

Regarding effectiveness or not, said Adrianus, it is a different matter. The reason is that the application of sanctions is considered too late and not optimal until now.

"The question of whether it is effective or not is another matter. Because it is related to timing and seriousness as well. About timing has missed. Concerning seriousness, it is also not optimal," said Adrianus.
