JAKARTA - Spokesperson for handling COVID-19 Achamd Yurianto (Yuri) said the government did not benefit from covering up data on cases of the corona virus or COVID-19. The government ensures that data on handling COVID-19 is the result of the field.
"The government has no interest and does not benefit from manipulating data. On the contrary, it will harm and disrupt the hard work that has been built," Yurianto said in a press conference broadcast live on BNPB's official account, Thursday, April 23.
According to him, the data that has been submitted so far comes from hospitals and city / district health offices. The database taken for reporting to the public is confirmed cases of COVID-19 from laboratory test results using the real time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method.
Meanwhile, ODP and PDP deaths will not be included in the data, until there are test results from the laboratory. "The COVID-19 database that has been confirmed from the laboratory database through PCR antigen examination is used to compile and report data on cases of recovery and death due to COVID-19 and this data is what we report," he said.
The latest data as of today, Yurianto reported, there are 43 laboratories in Indonesia that are active in examining samples using the PCR method. This laboratory, he said, must have the Biosecurity Level (BSL) 2 standard or have a biosecurity cabinet and have reagents.
He explained, as many as 48,647 cases had been examined and the results were 7,775 people tested positive. This figure increased by 357 people from the previous day. Meanwhile, those who died due to positive COVID-19 currently reached 647 people.
Yurianto added that the number of recovered patients continued to increase. As of today, 47 patients with positive COVID-19 cases have been declared cured, bringing the total to 960 people.
"If we look at the distribution of recovered patients in Jakarta 326 people, East Java as many as 112 people, West Java 87 people, South Sulawesi 80 people, and Bali 55 people. The total together with the other 29 provinces amounted to 960 people," he explained.
