COVID-19: A Unique Way Of Mime Artists Teaching Egyptian Children To Wash Their Hands

JAKARTA - One of the steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is to wash hands properly in accordance with the recommendations of the world health agency (WHO). Unfortunately, not many people have access to information related to proper hand washing. In Cairo Egypt, for example.

Fortunately, there is a mime artist named Ahmed Naser. He was willing to take the time to take to the streets in Cairo in order to distribute masks and recommend proper hand washing to children.

Launching Reuters , Something interesting about the 22-year-old man's action, none other than because he came to the gathering place of the children dressed in a complete pantomime style, such as a white face, striped clothes, and bright red glasses.

Every day, Naser searches the corner of the city streets to find places for children to have gathered since their schools closed due to COVID-19. "I came out today to make children aware of the dangers of the coronavirus," he said in the al-Qalaa neighborhood in the capital.

Thanks to his unique appearance, Naser always manages to get children together. However, instead of joking or doing mime acts, Naser then spoke clearly to tell the children about the importance of washing hands.

Just two weeks ago, Naser had come and talked with children playing football on the streets around Bab al-Futuh, near the walls of Cairo's old city. "The goal is to reach children without Facebook accounts or those who do not have access to proper information," said Naser.

The action was carried out because COVID-19 had closed his regular performance of playing pantomime. In fact, the action has been carried out for years. For that, to treat his longing, Naser took to the streets. Even though they do not have a mimic, the children who just saw their appearance have been entertained.

Meanwhile, as of Wednesday evening, Egypt had reported 2,505 cases of COVID-19, with 183 deaths. As a result, Africa's third most populous country has imposed a curfew, banned large public gatherings and closed schools and universities.
