People's School Need 700 PPG Certified Teachers, Recruitment Starts April

JAKARTA - Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf said the People's School Program would require approximately 700 teaching staff who had been certified Teacher Professional Education (PPG).

The Minister of Social Affairs said that this number has adjusted to the capacity of students who can be accepted in all People's Schools who are ready to operate in July.

"Yesterday it was calculated temporarily. So from more than 2,000 students, we need teachers and the staff is around 700," said the Minister of Social Affairs, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, March 20.

Regarding the selection mechanism, he said the Ministry of Social Affairs together with the People's School Formatur Team had asked the Directorate General of Teachers, Teacher Education and Education Personnel (Dirjen GTKPG) of the Ministry of Education and Culture to select around 60 thousand PPG Prajabatan teachers based on the proximity of their respective domicile locations to the People's School. v

"Yes, those who live near there are prioritized if they register. For example, People's Schools in South Jakarta, we prioritize teachers who live or live around South Jakarta. If there are no new ones to West Jakarta or East Jakarta, of course they are looking for the closest one," added the Minister of Social Affairs.

Earlier on Tuesday (19/3) in Jakarta, the Head of the People's School Formatur Team, Mohammad Nuh, explained that his party through the task force would look for and select teachers who were not only competent, but also had social empathy for teaching at People's Schools.

"Even though they have passed the PPG, we still do a test, we want to know that teachers have social empathy or not, so they not only have good academic competence, but also have social empathy," said Nuh.

On that occasion, he also mentioned that the recruitment process for teachers for People's Schools would begin in early April along with the selection of student admissions for the school.

Nuh also said that teachers who passed the selection would later receive training for approximately one month which was continued by following the orientation period until they were finally ready to teach in July.

"So April was recruited, in May for training and then for orientation, then in early July they will be ready," said Nuh.
