One Person Dies When A Building Collapses In Solo's Iron Market

SOLO - One person was reported dead and seven people were injured as a result of a collapsed building at the Solo Iron Market, Central Java.

Mojo Siswoko village head said the collapse of the building occurred at around 11.30 WIB. At that time, seven people were working on the roof of the building.

"The owner will climb the house, on the second floor. The materials are all transported on the second floor, sand, ceramics are transported all on the second floor," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, December 30.

It is suspected that the roof was not strong enough to withstand the load that was too heavy so that the building collapsed.

"Maybe the load is too heavy, then some of it collapse. Finally it all collapsed," he said.

According to him, the building has been around for a long time so the construction is not too strong. "The building is a bit old, the construction is not too strong," he said.

As a result of the incident, some of the victims were taken to Bung Karno Hospital and some were taken to Dr. Moewardi Hospital.

"Those who were slightly injured were taken to the RSBK, those who were seriously injured were taken to Dr. Moewardi Hospital," he said.

One of Darmadi's eyewitnesses said the collapse of the building was very fast. At that time, residents who were around immediately went to the scene to provide assistance.

"Some have fainted, some are aware. As far as I know, Mr. Mul's name is a bit heavy because he was buried for about 15 minutes. However, when he was helped by the SAR team, he was still conscious," he said.

The building was originally to be used as an iron shop. Currently, residents are working together to clean the collapsed building.

Meanwhile, based on information from the Surakarta City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the deceased was at Dr. Moewardi Hospital.
