KUPANG The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued an early warning for people in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) regarding the potential for heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds which is predicted to take place from Saturday, December 28 to Monday 30.
"The NTT area has the potential to experience moderate to heavy rain which can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds of short duration," said Head of BMKG Class II Meteorological Station El Tari Kupang, Sti Nenotek, on Saturday, December 28.
Sti explained that this extreme weather phenomenon was caused by a combination of various factors, such as the active Asian monsoon wind, the presence of cold surprise, wind bends, and tropical cyclones formed in the southwest of NTT. This condition triggers heavy rain that has the potential to be accompanied by lightning and strong winds in a number of areas in NTT," he added.
