JAKARTA Ahead of the 2024 Christmas and New Year celebrations (Nataru), the South Jakarta National Narcotics Agency (BNN) in collaboration with the DKI Jakarta Provincial BNN held monitoring at a number of nightclubs to prevent drug abuse. This activity took place from Thursday night until early Friday, December 20, 2024.
The results of these activities showed that of the 52 visitors who underwent a random urine test, all of them tested negative for drugs. Monitoring locations include nightclubs MJ (Senopati), WR (Gatot Subroto), and R (SCBD).
The head of the South Jakarta National Narcotics Agency, Kombes Pol Bambang Yudistira, stated that random urine tests are important early detection steps to prevent drug abuse, especially in vulnerable places such as night entertainment.
"Even though the results are negative, we still have to be vigilant. We need to dare to refuse, report, and rehabilitate if there are indications of drug abuse. This is part of our commitment to create a clean environment from drugs," said Bambang.
He added that this monitoring also supports the 7th Asta Cita of the President of the Republic of Indonesia regarding strengthening efforts to prevent and eradicate the abuse and circulation of Narcotics Dark Narcotics (P4GN). This step aims to reduce the number of drug abuse and realize Indonesia's Shining vision (Drug Clean) and support Indonesia's 2045 Gold target.
This activity involved various agencies, including Class 1 Immigration Officer Special for Non-TPI South Jakarta, South Jakarta Satpol PP, and the K9 BNN RI team. Urine tests were carried out using random sampling methods, while other checks included checking the lockers of employees' belongings, verifying foreign visitor documents by Immigration officers, and checking operational permits by Satpol PP.
"We want to make sure not only visitors, but also the operation of nightclubs remains in accordance with the rules. All of this aims to create an entertainment ecosystem that is clean and safe from drugs," said Bambang.
Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial BNN, Brigadier General Nurhadi Yuwono, emphasized that this activity will continue to be carried out regularly throughout the DKI Jakarta area. In fact, on the same night, similar monitoring was also carried out in East Jakarta and North Jakarta.
"We are committed to realizing Jakarta Cleaning Drugs. Activities like this are the acceleration of P4GN's efforts that we must continue to encourage," explained Nurhadi.
He also appealed to the public, especially visitors to nightclubs, to be more aware of the dangers of drugs and actively participate in creating a drug-free environment.
