KPU: Inauguration Of Ideal Regional Head Held March 13, 2025

JAKARTA - KPU chairman Mochammad Afifuddin said the inauguration of regional heads resulting from the 2024 Pilkada is most ideally held on March 13, 2025.

"The face of the Constitutional Court, ideally after March 13," said Afifuddin as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, December 20.

For information, Presidential Regulation Number 80 of 2024 stipulates the inauguration of regional heads resulting from the 2024 Pilkada starting on February 7, 2025 for governors and February 10, 2025 for mayors and regents.

This forced the inauguration of regional heads as a result of the regional elections to be postponed, because there was a change in the schedule for handling regional elections by the Constitutional Court.

As for now, there are no latest regulations regarding the date of inauguration even though there has been a change in the schedule of the Constitutional Court.

Afif assessed that on March 13, what he conveyed was only based on estimates according to the handling time of the case at the Constitutional Court.

"If you look at the current lawsuit, it's more than 300, ladies and gentlemen. If you still imagine, it was done in early February, then when it was done, the dismissal had not been decided, the preliminary trial processes were still ongoing, maybe it was just proof," he said.

Previously, on Thursday (19/12), Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto conveyed that the inauguration of regional heads resulting from the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Head Elections was likely to be held in March 2025.

This is the impact of changes to the Constitutional Court's rules, namely the postponement of the schedule for handling Pilkada cases at the Constitutional Court.
