Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, revealed the continuation of the discourse on increasing Transjakarta rates proposed since 2023. Syafrin said the plan was still being studied.
"We are still investigating the results of the study submitted by Transjakarta friends, as well as by the Jakarta City Transportation Council (DTKJ)," Syafrin told reporters, Friday, December 20.
The DKI Provincial Government has so far received the results of an internal study regarding the implementation of tariff increases from Transjakarta and DTKJ. The plan is that the study will be completed in the near future.
"We are still waiting for our deepening. The end of this year is over," said Syafrin.
For information, the discourse on increasing Transjakarta rates originated from the Jakarta City Transportation Council (DTKJ) proposal which saw that the transportation mode tariffs managed by the DKI Provincial Government needed to be increased.
DTKJ, continued Syafrin, proposed an increase because Transjakarta rates had not increased since a dozen years ago. Meanwhile, other modes of transportation such as KRL Commuter Line are planned to increase by Rp. 2,000 from Rp. 5,000.
"The reason is that seeing that Transjakarta's existing tariff of Rp. 3,500 since 2007 has not increased temporarily, on the other hand, transportation mode rates such as KRL will increase. Of course we have to do that related check and check and check and of course there will be an internal survey," explained Syafrin in 2023.
DTKJ is said to have the authority to provide tariff recommendations, in accordance with Regional Regulation (Perda) Number 5 of 2014 concerning Transportation.
Transjakarta then followed up by conducting a survey on social media conducted on April 6-13 to see the public's response.
Deputy Chairman of Commission B of the DKI Jakarta DPRD for the 2019-2024 period, Taufik Azhar at that time explained, the DKI Provincial Government had indeed poured a fairly large budget for transportation subsidies or public service obstruction (PSO) at Transjakarta rates.

So far, Transjakarta tickets have been subsidized from the APBD of around Rp. 13,000 for a trip because the economic value of the Transjakarta tariff is Rp. 15 thousand per ticket.
With the increase in bus fares, Taufik views that Transjakarta can also ease the burden on ABPD because the subsidy value is reduced. Given, the 2023 APBD also experienced a budget deficit.
"If we talk about PSO, there is indeed a discussion, don't just rely on PSO. This means that Transjakarta must also improve from another side for its economy," explained Taufik.
