The Proposal For Kemayoran Fire Victims To Be Transferred To Flats, JK: That's A Short Circuit, Because It's Not Regulated

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Jusuf Kalla (JK) proposed to the government to move victims affected by the Kemayoran fire, Central Jakarta, to flats (rusun).

While reviewing the refugee tents, the 10th and 12th Vice Presidents of the Republic of Indonesia offered the victims to be willing to be transferred to flats.

"We recommend that it be a flat, replaced with a flat. Because more or less all of the fires were electrical shorts, because they were irregular," said JK while inspecting the fire victims alert post at SDN 09 Kebon Blank, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, December 11, which was confiscated by Antara.

According to JK, flats have a cleaner and more regular environment, than the previous residential area where the victims were densely populated.

JK assessed that the flats had a smaller risk of an electrical short circuit, as the main cause of the fire in settlements.

Therefore, JK will also propose to the ministry regarding the transfer of victims of the Kemayoran fire to the flat.

"Earlier, what we expected was housing, later we will of course, the government, the minister of housing will go down and we suggest that it be a flat, replaced with a flat," said JK.

On that occasion, JK as a representative from PMI expressed his condolences to the victims and appreciated the community's efforts to help victims.

"For this emergency response, of course, the Ministry of Social Affairs, PMI will always help," said JK.

The fire in a densely populated settlement that occurred on Jalan Kebon Blank, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, December 10, allegedly came from the house of a plastic trash collector with the initials J.

The spark then quickly grew and burned all parts of the semi-permanent building in the area.

As a result of the fire in this densely populated settlement, as many as 1,800 people from 600 families and seven neighborhood units (RT) namely RT 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08 and 09 (joined in RW 05) were affected.
