Not The Defense Sector, Prabowo Calls The Largest 2025 State Budget Suction Education

President Prabowo Subianto said the largest allocation in the 2025 State Budget structure was aimed at the education sector, not the defense sector.

That, said the head of state, is like the policies of the United States (US) and India.

"Many of the largest allocation countries in the APBN are defense, according to the United States, according to India, the biggest allocation is defense. Indonesia's largest allocation is education," said the President at the handover of DIPA and TKD 2025, as well as the launch of an electronic catalog at the State Palace. The President said that a number of major countries, such as the United States and India, allocated the largest portion in their budget for defense.

In contrast, the President emphasized that Indonesia allocates the largest portion to the 2025 State Budget in the education sector. This is because the President believes that education and health services are a way out of poverty.

The Head of State considers that social protection, such as social assistance and subsidies for the community are only strategies or intermediary steps towards economic revival.

"In the end, education and health will bring our people out of poverty," said Prabowo.

The President added that the budget allocation for education in the structure of the State Budget for Fiscal Year 2025 is the largest in history.

"If you pay attention, the largest allocation (budget) in our APBN is education. If I'm not mistaken, this is the largest allocation in our history," said the President.

Meanwhile, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati detailed that government spending in the 2025 State Budget was set at IDR 2,701.4 trillion. Of the total expenditure, government spending for the education sector reached IDR 724.3 trillion.

"This is the highest spending on the function of education in our APBN," said Sri Mulyani.

Based on the information gathered, President Prabowo Subianto increased his education budget by 8.9 percent in 2025, from the previous Rp665.02 trillion in 2024.

The details of the education budget in 2025 are contained in Attachment IV Presidential Regulation Number 201 of 2024 concerning the Details of the State Budget for Fiscal Year 2025 set by Prabowo on November 30, 2024.
