The Indonesian Navy's Marine Corps Consistently Maintains Neutrality In The 2024 Election

JAKARTA - The Commander of the Indonesian Navy's Marine Corps, Major General TNI (Marinir) Endi Supardi, emphasized that all his staff in all hierarchies and lines consistently maintain neutrality in the 2024 General Election.

"We have been tested every year for politics and elections to always show our identity or identity, which always maintains the neutrality of the TNI. The Ungu Beret Corps is always awaited and hailed by the Indonesian people," he said, answering ANTARA's question, in Jakarta, Saturday.

According to him, this is the confidence of the Indonesian people in the Indonesian Navy's Marine Corps which has been built 78 years from its birthday.

To maintain the neutrality and trust of the people who are already attached, he gathered all his soldiers and provided direction, emphasis, and examples of stories or histories that have been lived in the history of the Indonesian Navy's Marine Corps to be able to maintain the mandate and not hurt the hearts of the people.

"The Marine Corps of the Indonesian Navy in the history of its duties has never been dragged or sided with any of the political parties or presidential and vice-presidential candidates. The Indonesian Navy's Marine Corps is always present at any time and wherever the state calls to always appear and succeed," he said.

To keep all its members neutral, he does not tire of gathering unit commanders and perpetrators in the field from the small unit level to the field commanders at the Marine Forces or Division level.

He did this because at this time the content on social media was so intense ahead of the very boisterous elections, either supporting certain candidates or vice versa, bringing down certain candidates.

On Friday (24/11) he gave entry briefings to all soldiers of the Indonesian Navy's Marine Corps in Jakarta and its surroundings, at the Indonesian Navy Corps 1 Infantry Brigade Apple Field, Marine Corps Secretary of the Indonesian Navy Hartono, Cilandak, South Jakarta.

The activity was attended by all officers, non-commissioned officers, commanders, and civil servants of the Indonesian Navy Corps in Jakarta, including personnel from the Indonesian Navy's Marine Corps Command Headquarters, Pasmar 1, Jala Manggara Detachment, Jakarta Marine Base, and Cilandak Marine Hospital.

The activity went well, with a little joking and boisterous applause, and he recounted the events in the past few years, including the 1997/1998 period during elections and reforms.
