Firm! Egyptian President El-Sisi Rejects Forced Transfer Of Palestinians

JAKARTA - Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi reiterated his refusal to forcefully move Gazans either inside or outside the Palestinian territories.

During his meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen who was visiting Cairo, Sisi discussed developments in Gaza, where Israeli air and ground attacks since October 7 have killed more than 12 thousand Palestinians more than half of women and children.

During the meeting, quoted by Antara, the Egyptian presidential office said Sisi emphasized "Egypt's position on the need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, protecting civilians, and ensuring aid deliveries to Gazans who are suffering very heavy humanitarian suffering."

He stressed "Egypt's firm rejection of the forced transfer of Palestinians, both inside and outside their homeland, especially to Egyptian soil at Sinai."

"The president of the European Commission agrees with the Egyptian president and affirms the European position that refuses the forced transfer."

Both sides stressed that "the only solution to the Palestinian issue lies in achieving a comprehensive and fair peace based on a two-state solution, in accordance with the international references that have been agreed upon."

Israeli troops continue to call on Gaza Strip residents to move south near the Egyptian border.

The United Nations estimates that at least 1.5 million people in Gaza have fled to other Palestinian territories, many of which have taken refuge in UN facilities.
