SLEMAN - The Government of Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta conducted a surprise inspection (sidak) and closed illegal mining activities in the hilly area of Kapanewon (Kecamatan) Prambanan, Sleman Regency.

Inspections carried out by the Sleman Economic and Natural Resources Section (SDA) together with the DIY Satpol PP, DIY PUP-ESDM Service, DPMPTSP DIY, and Sleman Satpol PP and Sleman BKAD.

"This inspection follows up on public reports regarding illegal rock mining in Prambanan," said the Young Expert Policy Analyst from the Economic and Natural Resources Section of the Sleman District Secretariat, Falak Susanto, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, November 8.

According to him, based on the Regulation of the Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta Number 39 of 2022 concerning the Implementation of Mining Business Activities for Metal Minerals, Non-Mealth Minerals, Minerals, Not Certain Types of Metals, and Rocks, the activity of cutting and transporting materials must have a mining business permit.

The first review was carried out in Kikis, Kalurahan Sambirejo. At this location, the team found that a hill cut had been carried out on the grounds of structuring land for residents' housing.

"The cuts have been done for a week, and have been fully operational since Monday, (6/11/2023)," he said.

At that location the ownership status is individual SHM while the initiator/miner from Klaten area, Central Java.

"The material from this hill cut is sold as rueg land. Every material released by the land owner gets a yield of Rp. 15,000 per truck," he said.

The team to trace miners does not yet have any operational permits and an agreement between the initiator and the owner of the land is only verbal. As for information from the Sambirejo Kalurahan Government, the permit for the dispute is only a passing permit.

"At this location, the team stopped activities by installing lines that were prohibited from crossing by Satpol PP Sleman and Satpol DIY. The team also provided guidance to the initiators to immediately take care of permits to related agencies and activities should not be continued before having a permit," he said.

The second appointment was carried out at Pereng Kalurrahan Sumberharjo Kapanewon Prambanan. At this location, the activity of cutting and transporting materials also occurs.

"In the first review on Thursday (26/10/2023) there were no cutting and transporting materials. However, today's review of mining activities. At this location, miners reasoned that there was a request from residents for landslide mitigation," he said.

Falak said the team then stopped activities by installing lines and prohibited entry and guidance to the initiators to immediately carry out the licensing process to the relevant agencies.

"The team reiterated that mining activities here also cannot be carried out again if they do not have a permit," he said.
