The Action Of The Sujud Masses In The Middle Of The Road Ahead Of The Constitutional Court's Decision On The Age Limit For The Vice Presidential Candidate

JAKARTA - A mass group of demonstrations on behalf of Indonesia MAPAN (Maju Bersama Prabowo-Gibran) held an oration at the Horse Statue, Gambir, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, November 7.

The demonstration began at 13.50 WIB. They came with a white-red banner that read "Indonesia Mapan. We are with the Constitutional Court! Young people support the Constitutional Court Decision No. 90!"

In the action, a number of the masses prostrate in the middle of the closed road. They gave their voice support regarding the age limit that was decided some time ago by the Constitutional Court.

Representative of Indonesia Mapan, Muhammad Senanatha, said that his party regretted the various efforts to boost the Constitutional Court's decision.

"We will not stand still with this incident. We are with the Constitutional Court. We have signed the age of the presidential and vice-presidential candidates," Senanatha told reporters at the location, Tuesday, November 7.

He said the Constitutional Court's decision in Article 169 letter q of Law 7/2017 also did not violate the rights to recognition, guarantee, protection, and fair legal certainty.

"The legal treatment is the same before the law. The right to equal opportunities in the government so that there is no discriminatory treatment," he said.

Furthermore, the decision is also considered to open up opportunities for young people to contest directly in every election in the future. According to Senanatha, that right is a good thing for the younger generation.

"That's a good thing for the younger generation in a democratic country. We as young people don't want our human rights to be limited. Regarding the Constitutional Court's decision, the age limit for presidential and vice-presidential candidates is unconstitutional because it has limited the rights of young people," he said.

Meanwhile, Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Susatyo Purnomo Condro said his party had deployed 1998 joint personnel from the TNI and Polri to secure the implementation of the trial decision for alleged violations of the Constitutional Court's code of ethics (MK) in front of the Constitutional Court Building, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, November 7.

"We are ready to secure the implementation of the Constitutional Court's decision today, by deploying 1998 joint personnel from the Metro Jaya Police, Central Jakarta Metro Police, TNI and DKI Jakarta Provincial Government," Kombes Susatyo told reporters, Tuesday, November 7.

Thousands of joint personnel were stationed in the Monas area and the Constitutional Court building. Meanwhile, for the diversion of traffic flow, Kombes Susatyo said it was still situational.
