JAKARTA - Mahfud MD met with PDIP General Chair (Ketum) Megawati Soekarnoputri last night before being officially announced as a presidential candidate to accompany Ganjar Pranowo in the 2024 presidential election today, Wednesday 18 October.

During the meeting, Megawati said that all Ketum supporters of Ganjar left a message to Mahfud regarding legal issues and criminal acts of corruption or corruption in the country.

"I am the main task of legal reform and corruption," said Mahfud after being declared a vice presidential candidate to accompany Ganjar at the PDIP Jakarta DPP office, Wednesday, October 18.

Mahfud said in the meeting last night Megawati said that all political parties supporting Ganjar, namely PDIP, PPP, Perindo, and Hanura agreed that they would become Ganjar's companions.

Barulah diskusi tentang sejumlah masalah negara berlangsung. Kata Mahfud, pembahasannya dengan Megawati itu terlebih soal permasalahan hukum dan pemberantasan korupsi. "Diskusi hampir dua jam dengan bu Mega tentang masalah negara," imbuhnya.

Previously, PDIP Chairman Megawati Soekarnoputri officially announced Mahfud MD as the vice presidential candidate to accompany Ganjar. This decision was taken after the political parties supporting Ganjar agreed with the appointment of Ganjar-Mahfud in the 2024 presidential election.

As for the announcement of the vice presidential candidate, all the party leaders carrying Ganjar were present, such as Plt Ketum PPP Muhamad Mardiono, Hanura Party Chairman Oesman Sapta Odang, Perindo Party Chairman Hary Tanoesoedibjo, and Chairman of the Presidential Ganjar National Winning Team (TPN GP) Arsjad Rasyid.

Then were PDIP officials, such as PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto, PDIP General Treasurer Olly Dondokambey, PDIP DPP Chairperson who is also Megawati's son, Prananda Prabowo and Puan Maharani and other cadres.
