Appoint Mahfud As Vice President For Ganjar, Megawati: Warrior of Law and Defender of the People

JAKARTA - Chairperson of PDI Perjuangan Megawati Soekarnoputri revealed the reason for choosing the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Political Security (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD as a vice presidential candidate from Ganjar Pranowo. Megawati called the personality of Mahfud as a warrior of law and defender of the people.

"He is a very intellectual person, because his knowledge in legal issues is very full of experience and knowledge. A person with complete experiences at the Legislative, Executive and Judiciary Institutions," Megawati said during the declaration at the Jakarta PDIP DPP Office, Wednesday, October 18.

"Prof. Mahfud is known to the people as a figure of the Warrior of Law and the Defender of the People. I say to him, there is the rules so don't be silent. For what is the rule of law if everyone is silent, let's speak up," said Megawati.

Megawati also revealed her closeness to Mahfud MD, when both of them were still together at the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP). After Mahfud entered the Advanced Indonesian Cabinet in Joko Widodo-Ma'ruf Amin's government, Mahfud as the Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security was also considered to have carried out his duties well.

"He could be a good referee in the midst of political and business competition that was often felt unfair. He is the figure we have assigned to reform the national legal system, so that the face of true justice appears," said Megawati..

She also hopes for people's support so that the Ganjar-Mahfud pair can win the 2024 presidential election.

"God willing, with the help of Allah SWT and the Indonesian people, both of them can become president and vice president. The people have been waiting for this justice for a long time, therefore to all the Indonesian people, we ask for their blessing," said Megawati.
