Sudirman Said: Anies-Muhaimin Only Needs True Democracy To Win

Spokesperson for Anies Baswedan, Sudirman Said, said that the pairs of candidates for president and vice president from the Change Coalition, Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar only needed the correct democracy to win the 2024 presidential election.

"Often said by friends, what Anies-muhaimin needed to win is one, namely democracy. Maybe if the democracy is true, God willing, Anies and Muhaimin will win," said Sudirman, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 17.

True democracy, said Said, can be seen from the honest elections, officials, and neutral state administrators. He said that his party had hope for the realization of the true democracy.

When asked about the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding regional heads that could be presidential and vice-presidential candidates, Sudirman said Anies-Muhaimin would focus on following the stages according to the constitution.

"Of course there are macropolitical atmospheres that get attention from many parties, yes. Many parties respond with various kinds, but our focus is on how to fulfill the election agenda, the constitutional agenda," he said.

He said Anies-Muhaimin wanted to register as quickly as possible to the KPU. Then, wait for the determination and continue other preparations for the 2024 presidential election.

"If some members of the community have disappointment with this atmosphere (the Constitutional Court's decision), then the answer is that change and changes are taken in a constitutional way through election," he added.

Regarding registration with the KPU, Sudirman said as many as 20,000 volunteers would also escort Anies and Muhaimin. He said volunteers were enthusiastic about taking part in this important moment.

Anies-Muhaimin will register as a presidential and vice presidential candidate on the first day, namely Thursday (19/10). Before going to the KPU office, said Sudirman, Anies-Muhaimin would first visit the office of the supporting political party.

"If volunteers will go directly to the location, but the presidential candidate (and vice presidential candidate) will start the journey from their respective residences, then go to PKS; then from PKS to PKB; from PKB to NasDem; from NasDem, we will go together to the KPU," he explained.
