Lampung Bakung TPA Fire Reportedly Continues To Expand

Land fire at the Bakung Garbage Final Disposal Site (TPA) is reported to continue to expand, after being successfully extinguished by firefighters on Saturday morning. This was conveyed by the Head of the Bandarlampung City Fire and Rescue Service, Anthoni Irawan, Saturday, October 14.

"The fire that burned piles of garbage in the Bakung TPA has now spread to about three hectares," said Anthoni, as quoted by ANTARA.

He explained that the fire at the Bakung waste TPA had occurred since Friday (13/10) at 17.50 WIB as reported by residents who entered the Fire Department and the fire had been successfully extinguished by officers on Saturday at around 02.00 WIB in the morning.

"Saturday morning at 02.00 WIB we managed to extinguish the fire that burned about 1.2 hectares of land piled up with garbage in the TPA," he said.

However, he continued, in the morning the fire reappeared and immediately grew, even extending to other points at the Bakung TPA and it is estimated that it has burned approximately three hectares of garbage there.

"Approximately three hectares of TPA land have been burned, but it has not yet reached residential areas," said Anthoni.

He revealed that currently dozens of personnel complete with fleets have been deployed and are trying to extinguish the hotspots at TPA Bakung.

"Currently, dozens of personnel are still trying to extinguish the fire at the Bakung TPA. We hope that the fire can be extinguished as soon as possible so that it does not reach residential areas and hills near the location," said Anthoni Irawan.
