One Year Evaluation of DKI Acting Governor, PDIP Criticizes Heru Budi's Communication Patterns

JAKARTA - Chairman of the PDIP Fraction Gembong Warsono evaluated Heru Budi Hartono's performance as Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta for one year.

Gembong assesses that, since the beginning of his tenure until now, Heru's public communication as Acting Governor has still not been optimal and needs to be improved.

"First, Pak Heru's public communication is not good. It's still the same. So, this needs to be improved," said Gembong at the DKI Jakarta DPRD building, Monday, October 9.

Even though Heru is a bureaucrat and not a politician, Gembong believes that communication skills are also needed. In particular, in providing direction regarding the policies and programs being implemented.

"When communication is good, execution will run well. But because public communication is not good, what happens is halting," said Gembong.

Therefore, if Heru's term of office is extended again by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Gembong will ask that Heru's public communications be improved. Then, Heru was also asked to carry out development that had not been realized.

"Mr Heru, whose term of service is almost over, is working hard to serve the community. Executing programs that have not been executed," said Gembong.

"Then, improve the data on Jakarta's poor residents. Even though there is currently a polemic, the data collection must be evaluated properly," he continued.

On October 17 2022, Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian officially appointed Heru Budi Hartono as Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta.

Heru served as Acting Governor for a term of one year and was evaluated every three months. After one year in office, the Ministry of Home Affairs will decide whether Heru's position will be extended for another year or not.

Separately, Heru admitted that he did not know whether his position would be extended or not. Heru's term of office as Acting Governor will end on October 17 2023, exactly a year after he was inaugurated.

"Yes, I don't know (his position will be extended or not). There is no information yet," said Heru when met in the Gelora Bung Karno area, Central Jakarta, Sunday, October 8.

Heru handed over the decision to extend his position for another year as Acting Governor of DKI to the Ministry of Home Affairs. Heru has also undergone a final evaluation during his one term as Acting Governor.

"Yesterday was the last, (evaluation) every year was yesterday. (Regarding readiness to extend the position of Acting Governor) ask the Ministry of Home Affairs," he explained.
