2 Defendants Of Unand Student Harassment Sentenced To 9 Months In Prison

The Panel of Judges at the Padang District Court, West Sumatra, sentenced Hubert Javas Hammam Hardoni (22) and Nabila Zahra Raihanah Drajat (21) to nine prison sentences who were accused of harassment against students of the Faculty of Medicine, Andalas University (Unand).

"Declaring that the defendant is legally and convincingly guilty of committing a criminal act of sexual violence together which is seen as a continuing act," said Chief Judge Juandra in a verdict read out, Wednesday, October 4.

The two defendants were sentenced based on the first indictment of the prosecutor, namely Article 14 paragraph (1) letter a of Law Number 12/2022 concerning the Crime of Sexual Violence in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st, in conjunction with Article 64 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code and Law Number 8/1981 concerning the Criminal Procedure Law and other laws and regulations concerned.

In his consideration, the judge stated things that incriminated the defendant because his actions had caused unrest for residents, especially academic residents of the Faculty of Medicine, Andalas University. Draft (21) was proven to have recorded sexually charged content without permission from the victim who was his own friend, then the content was sent to Hardoni (22).

The cargo in the form of a photo or video was taken by Drajat when the victim was asleep on orders from the defendant Hardoni. Meanwhile, it was a mitigating thing because the two defendants had been sanctioned in the form of spending from campus.

Juandra said the defendants who were accompanied by their respective legal advisers stated that they accepted the verdict, while the Public Prosecutor expressed his thoughts.
