JAKARTA - Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Mendikbudristek) Nadiem Anwar Makarim inaugurated seven university leaders for the period 2023-2027 and one major entrepreneur.

"The future of Indonesian children depends on our commitment to transform and advance the education system," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, September 25.

The seven university leaders, including Komarudin as Chancellor of the Jakarta State University (UNJ), Taufiq as Chancellor of Sriwijaya University, and Eduart Wlok as Chancellor of Gorontalo State University.

In addition, Oscar Oswald OWambrauw as Chancellor of Cenderawasih University, Irwandi as Chancellor of the Indonesian Art Institute (ISI) of Yogyakarta, Idham Kamil as Director of Medan State Polytechnic, and Rachmad Tri Soelistijono as Director of the Surabaya State Shipship Polytechnic.

He advised these new rectors to realize an inclusive education through the implementation of Freedom of Learning which to date has given birth to 26 breakthroughs and is able to have a tremendous impact on the world of education at all levels.

For higher education, Nadiem has launched 10 Merdeka Learning breakthroughs out of a total of 26 episodes that focus on improving the quality of higher education and college governance.

"I hope that the leaders of universities who are inaugurated today can consolidate and formulate the implementation of the Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM) policy in their respective work units," he said.

One major entrepreneur who is also appointed, namely Wartanto, is expected to carry out his duties optimally and contribute to ensuring the fulfillment of standards by the education unit in a systemic, holistic, and sustainable manner.

Responding to Nadiem's message, UNJ Chancellor Komarudin is committed to carrying out his duties with professionalism and collaboration as an important part of leadership.

The Chancellor of Cenderawasih University Oscar Oswald OWambrauw stated that he supports Merdeka Learning which has been launched by the Ministry of Education and Culture.

"We will increase the implementation of the MBKM which has been implemented in accordance with the Minister of Education and Culture Regulation Number 53 of 2023 related to increasing the quality guarantee of universities," he said.
